Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Tue, February 27, 2007 - 8:16 AMThe author had summed it up very well with one quote "JESUS' last words on laughter--"woe unto you who laugh now!". This just shows what kind of people are hit with the "holy laughter". -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Tue, February 27, 2007 - 8:53 AMI have had friends who have been "hit with the holy laughter" and they are strong believers. It's easy to knock something that has never happened to you. It's easy to view something out of the ordinary as crazy and of demons. But just remember people accused Jesus of being demon possessed because they didn't understand what He was doing. So be careful with what you say is demonic and what isn't. God does crazy stuff sometimes to get our attention and He ALWAYS knows what we need. And maybe some of us take life too seriously and we need a good "holy laugh." -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 3:29 PMIt doesnt even make sense that laughter is praising God. What is the significance of laughter? How is that a connection with God? It reminds me of that Indian guy on tv who made people faint. That guy was a joke. He just kept pulling in the money. People just keep coming up with new gimicks to advertise there church. More people equals more money. I wouldn't be surprised if people started saying they orgasmed in church. I bet that'll get people in there. -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 4:21 PMI'm not Greek Orthodox, so it's not part of my tradition, but read about it as well as have friends who have witnessed that a major part of the Eastern Orthodox liturgy for Easter is the congregation joining together in laughter, symbolizing that with the resurrection of Christ we now can laugh at death. I think that in incredibly cool!

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 6:32 PMLaughter is actually healthy for you. And the fainting, that is what is known as being slain in the spirit. And I am not a huge fan of Benny Hinn, but that is a different topic. But ya, that too is something that happens. All this stuff is mainly, NOT ALWAYS, but usually seen in the charismatic circles.

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 1:23 PMI am undecided. I agree that Christians in the spirit can be disruptive, and mistaken for demonic, Paul admonisted people to be orderly, because this was a problem in his day as well. We should consider exactly what laughter is. Laughter basically is a release of fear, A joke is funny because it represents something scary in a safe way. Laughter can be direct at a person, and to do so is to say that you do not fear them. So I guess the question is, to what is this laughter directed? And what is the fear at it's source? It's fair to a assume that a small laugh represents a small fear, and big laugh, a big fear.

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 12:29 PMThe Joy of the Lord is our strenght! Who wants us to be weak??? Who nitpicks over every detail of God's working? The Pharasees-The serpants and white washed tombs and sons of hell who deny the power and authority of God but preach it all day long. Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I say Rejoice! -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 1:29 PMRejoiceing is not the same as laughing.
<Who nitpicks over every detail of God's working? The Pharasees-The serpants and white washed tombs and sons of hell who deny the power and authority of God but preach it all day long.>
1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Mat 25:1 ΒΆ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish.
Mat 25:3 They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mat 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mat 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mat 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, March 7, 2007 - 12:31 PMThe article did a pretty good job explaining this. I agree that this is probably not a spirit from God, I'm a devout Christian totally in love with Jesus and whenever I hear of things like this, it just feels evil. If a pastor is giving a prepared sermon trying to speak into peoples lives about Christ, why would God interrupt that to make everyone giggle uncontrollably? I won't go into listing Binle verses that speak againt this, because the artivcle already did a good job at that. But the fact remains that scripture speaks against this sort of thing. God is not the author of confusion. God does things for a purpose. What would the purpose of this be? TO show the world that He can make an elite little club that you have to be a nutjob to join? I don't think so. Simply "reason together" and "test the spirits." This should be enough. This Holy Laughter thing is of the ememy. -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Wed, March 7, 2007 - 5:40 PMBut it doesn't always cause confussion. If it is done in a God ordained way, then it fits in with the flow and can really break chains and help set people free. -

Re: HOLY LAUGHTER,,,,is it holy?
Fri, October 5, 2007 - 2:07 AMI agree, I've been there myself - believe me - it's really a way of the Holy spirit to set you free....we sometimes call it "the joy of the Lord" - Laughter really is like medicine, it frees any mental bondages you might have - sometimes when you're slain in the Spirit, having this laughter - it's almost like God speaks to you - telling you things will be fine, setting your mind at ease. Sometimes people are just too tensed up about things, and that usually is all that's needed to break the uneasiness.
