Our society makes a clear distinction between "Clergy" and "laity". However, the bible teaches that every Christian is a priest (2 Corinthians 5:18 & 1 Peter 2:9). Is it possible for the average ordinary joe (or jane) to do the work of the ministry? How would you define ministry?

Re: Can anyone become a minister?
Wed, April 26, 2006 - 7:57 AMto minister is to serve.
to minister in Christ's name is to serve in a way our Lord Jesus would approve of and share the Good News to anyone who would hear.

Re: Can anyone become a minister?
Thu, April 27, 2006 - 3:14 AMA minister is any Christian who has made a decision to compassionately serve others through the work they do each day. They submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ by following his command to love God, themselves, and the rest of humanity.
A pastor is a minister who trains and equips individual believers for the work of the ministry. They also build people up in the knowledge of God with the goal of helping the body of Christ come to the unity of the faith. -

sure
>> How would you define ministry?<<
probably anyone who helps anyone else find the Lord
established religion has it all changed around, only part of it being for good reason. it does make sense not to set a guy u pwith a house, a church, and a mass 3 times a week if he isnt trained in writing sermons. So it would also follow such a person should have read the Bible thoroughly enoug to know it well.
then it gets screwy- you need to interpret the Bible within the guidlines of each particular church. ugh.
i tihnk that is what seminary school is really all about
but obviously, anyone with the power of public speaking and the desire to run a church can run one (as long as they fill uot the proper govt forms)
and when it comes to God, well yeah Eric, you put it perfectly.
